The Beginning

This is a 1947 Hobart Weldmobile.  It was used in a local mining operation, until the mid 80's when its transmission went out. 
Here is the main body.  It was powered by a 6 CYL Chrysler Flathead engine, and built on a dodge chassis.



Yes that is a alternator welded to the fender.  The original exciter generator went out,  and in the mining industry its function over fashion.  The only setback is that it either needed 40 or 60 volts to excite the generator so there is also a pile of resistors and rheostats screwed to a piece of plywood which somehow converted it to which ever it took to make her spark.
